Congrats to John Lund (one of the "Marvelous Lund Brothers")
John is the new Hill Murray vault coach

Hill-Murray Track team is in need of a vaulting coach.

"Track practice will start in mid March and run through May. We would ideally like a coach every day plus meets, but could be flexible to 3-4 days a week plus meets. Our facility is not great, but we have really eager kids who want to learn. We do not have an indoor facility and our outdoor pit is just one direction. We have about 8-10 poles and maybe 6 vaulters (3 girls/3 boys). They are very young and inexperienced jumpers except for one junior girl who is at about 9’.  The pay is $2,500 for the season. If interested please contact the athletic director at Hill-Murray (Bill Lechner) blechner@hill-murray.org or call 651 748-2429."

News / ===New Webpage===
February 19, 2014, 03:04:42 AM
Hello Everyone,

I have a new webpage to help improve my service with poles and with camps
i also have changed the mechanics of taking and returning poles as my house
However, this forum will remain as the primary mechanism for community-wide communication

New features with Pole Rentals and Sales
--The inventory will now be fully online and fully automated
--you can 'build a shopping cart' and pay for it with a credit card, or email that shopping cart to your AD/bookkeeper so the school can pay (and you get the poles you actually want)
--you can rent poles, buy poles, exchange poles, or buy them out, all online---I will be auto-emailed what to do and when to do it!
--the rental prices will remain the same format as last year (short-term rental, season-long rental, extended-rentals are all available)
--there is no "reservation" of poles, rather it is checked out when it is paid for
--your credit card will be charged 21 days after check out or when it is returned (if it's returned prior to 21 days)
--invoices are no longer in use, receipts can be printed
--if you want to buy non-listed Gill items, email me the order, I will build your shopping cart so you can pay for it
--if you are buying 5 or more poles, there is a 20% discount, but I have to apply that to your shopping cart manually

New features with Camps
--all registration, payments, and wait lists will be online
--email confirmation will be sent to confirm that the spots you want are yours
--if you need to cancel, an auto-email will go out to alumni (who want to be notified) to see if anyone wants the spot
--all of the forms, will be stored electronically--no need to re-complete the same forms each camp

New features with Pole Pick-up and Return
--poles will no longer be picked-up or returned in drain-tiles outside the garage
--instead, the third-stall of the garage can be opened 12"
--poles will be placed on the garage floor and within reach when the garage is open 12"
--please close the garage when you leave
--return poles the same way
--the barcodes on the pole will be utilized for check-out, check-in, and reflex--so it is critical that you remove any grip tape you applied

That's it for now--more later
I have a lot of work to do to enter in all the poles (ugh)

Kyle Cleven has been coaching pole vault for 25 years; University of St Thomas for 16 years, Mpls Washburn for 8 years prior, and Mpls South initially.  Kyle currently coaches for Maple Grove HS.  Kyle is USATF certified Level-1, Level-2 Jumps, Level-2 Sprints & Hurdles, and has begun Level-3.  While at UST, Kyle coached 17 MIAC Collegiate Conference Champions, 9 Runners Up, numerous Top 5 Finishers.  Kyle also coached six vaulters to the NCAA DIII  National championships; four earning All-American honors.  Eight of the men Kyle coached have bettered (15'), including the current MIAC Conference Indoor record holder at (16’3). Kyle has coached 3 women over (11') including the school record holder (12'5) who placed 2nd at NCAAs.  While coaching at Washburn, Kyle coached 3 MSHSL State Qualifiers (not bad for only having 3-poles).

Gary Danelius, 20th year as the Wayzata HS vault coach for 19th year. Gary also coached vault at the National Sports Center vault coach for 17 years and Mpls Roosevelt prior to that.  Although Gary competed as a high jumper, he has been a pioneer in Minnesota vault coaching.  He is USATF certified Level-1 and Level-2 Jumps, as well as USATF Silver-Level certified in the vault (an accreditation no longer offered).  Gary's list of accomplishments may be second-to-none in Minnesota; (9) state qualifiers at Wayzata, (9) state qualifiers at Roosevelt, and (67) state qualifiers through his efforts at NSC.  The results (6) State Champions, (10) 2nd place, (6) 3rd place, (7) 4th place, (28) more also earning All-State honors by placing 5th through 9th.  The PR's of the kids Gary has developed (5) boys over 15', (25) over 14', (54) over 13'; and for the ladies (2) over 12', (5) over 11', and (13) over 10'.  Gary shares that one of his favorite successes was through the cooperative efforts of the Flight Deck Summer Camp and his efforts at Wayzata.  Gary had a young man go from doing barrel rolls over the bar, only clearing 12’ twice as a junior and not jumping high enough to get on the Honor Roll; to jumping 14’ 3” and winning the State meet the next year. That was a big “dreams can come true moment” for that vaulter.

Michelle Legatt, St. Catherine University vault coach, former coach at Park Cottage Grove High School. Michelle began vaulting in 1998 as a 10th grader in Sartell, MN after 10 years of gymnastics and had a HS PR of 12'6. Leslie begins her 6th year coaching HS vault camps and is currently training with Steve and Caroline for the 2016 Olympics.

Chris Milton begins his 12th year coaching vault, 3rd year at Eden Prairie HS, with the previous 9 years at Armstrong High School.  So far Chris has coached 3 state champions, 15 all state performances and 20 state qualifiers. Most notably, he coached the 2005 and 2006 girls state AA pole vault champion to an all time state meet record of 12-9, a personal best of 13-3 which in 2006 was the 4th best jump in the nation.  Chris graduated from the University of St. Thomas in 2001 with a BA in computer science. While at St. Thomas he was the 3x MIAC conference pole vault champion and 3x runner-up. Prior to UST, Chris attended Minneapolis Washburn where he was a 2x State Meet qualifier and earned All-State his senior year. Chris is USATF Level-1 jumps certified and has a lifetime personal best of 16-0.
